The SEGi University Bachelor of Mass Communication (Hons) programme provide students with a solid foundation in the basic knowledge and skills necessary to become media practitioners and more informed media consumers. This programme prepares students to view the media industry as a business entity, teaching them the technical aspects of mass media while also understanding how the media industry functions as business.
Students will develop specialised knowledge in the areas of television/video, news and current affairs production, print, radio and TV journalism, and desktop and on-line publishing. Emphasis is also placed on creative & critical thinking, training students to excel in their written and verbal communication skills.
Graduates of the SEGi University Bachelor of Mass Communication (Hons) are well poised to be directly employed, pursuing a variety of job roles, including: broadcast journalist, journalist, corporate communication executives, public relations executives, programme producers, content creators, editors, copywriters, creative directors, media planners, advertising executives, television presenters, radio presenters, and many more.
Alternatively, graduates can pursue careers with national and multi-national companies who require staff that possess invaluable knowledge and insight into the mass media industry. Graduates also have the option to articulate into relevant postgraduate studies.
The history of SEGi can be traced to its first education centre located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur; Malaysia in 1977. With over 30 years of its strong and established presence in the Malaysia education scene, SEGi received its University College status in 2008, and its University status in 2012.
