The KBU International College BSc (Hons) Computer & Network Engineering (3+0) programme awarded by Sheffield Hallam University, UK aims at stimulating interest among students in the technical areas of computing and networking. They will be introduced to the various types of software, hardware, network protocols and standards used to allow computers to communicate and the need for different skills.
Many organisations such as multinational corporations, hospitals, factories, banks, offices and small industrial companies have become increasingly dependent on electronic technology in their day to day operations. The information flow in a company is vital for making informed decisions. Thus, the computer network is central to every company to facilitate this.
This computing course will provide training to acquire the technical skills in computer networking. The ever-developing application of new technology creates a high demand for network engineers in a wide range of organizations. Students will have access to a dedicated network laboratory, where they can investigate and map virtual computer networks. The design can then be configured on computers in the laboratory to test the design in the real world. They will also become familiar with issues such as security in communication media and management of the network.
Graduates may take up a career that will involve the development; commissioning and maintenance of electronic; computer network, telecommunication, microcomputer, software and information engineering systems.
Intakes: Year 1 (January / May / August) and Year 2 (Sept or October)
