The Asia Pacific University College of Technology & Innovation (UCTI) stands tall among Malaysia’s premier Institutions of Higher Learning - this is a University where a unique fusion of technology, innovation and creativity works effectively towards preparing graduates for significant roles in business and society globally.

Originally established as the Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) in 1993 and funded by the SAPURA Group, UCTI‘s sound approach to nurturing school leavers into qualified professionals has resulted in our graduates being highly sought after by employers. With an international student community from more than 80 countries studying in its Malaysian campus, UCTI offers a truly cosmopolitan learning environment which prepares students well for the global challenges which lie ahead. UCTI now has over 8000 students with over 5000 international students from over 82 countries.

UCTI offers a wide range of degrees with Technology as a common core. It is UCTI’s aim to nurture and encourage innovation through our programmes of study, with the intention of producing individuals who will learn, adapt and think differently in new and better ways. 

UCTI’s achievements in winning a host of prestigious awards at national and regional levels over the years bear testimony to our commitment to excellence in higher education and training, as well as innovative research and development and comercialisation. UCTI (through APIIT) is Malaysia’s first Institution to achieve Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) Company Status, as well as the only Institution to have won the prestigious MSC Asia Pacific ICT Awards every year since the inception of the awards in 1999.

Through our network of APIIT branch campuses established in Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan, UCTI also reaches out to young aspiring professionals in these countries, providing them with a unique opportunity of experiencing international best practices in higher education using curricula, processes, resources and systems which have been developed in Malaysia.

UCTI’s academic programmes are all approved by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia and the qualifications are accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

The University has produced more than 16,000 highly skilled technology professionals in Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region, and has earned a reputation for excellence in education and research and development. APIIT & UCTI had continuously wins awards for excellence in education, research and development and for the achievements of our students. Asia Pacific University College of Technology and Innovation (UCTI) was established when Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) was officially awarded University College status by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, in 2004. The new University College is now called UCTI for short.

UCTI Student Services

Student Services at UCTI aims to provide support, assistance, advice, consultation, and essential services to all UCTI students and to cater to the well-being of students beyond their academic needs.

A main point of contact and base for students requiring information and assistance, Student Services is a one-stop centre where questions about UCTI courses, policies, procedures, services and events can be obtained.

Course & Personal Counselling

To ensure that you get the best out of you life at UCTI, we offer course counselling to help you with making decision on your academic pathways. Our Student Services Executives will explain the courses offered at UCTI, guide you through enrolment, and provide information on course admission, fees, scholarships, loan application, etc.
To ensure that our students get the best out of their life at UCTI, we offer personal counselling services geared towards helping you with academic concerns as well as emotional matters. 'You can be assured that all counselling is done in a safe and confidential environment by qualified counsellors. We are confidential and non-judgmental, we offer positive encouragement, and we talk to you in a friendly and safe environment.

International support

UCTI has vibrant community of students from over 60 countries.We have students from Asia, Central Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Oceania. Our International Students Support Centre helps you with the procedure to apply for your Student Pass before coming here. Upon arrival in Kuala Lumpur, we will send someone from UCTI to pick you up from the airport and bring you to campus. It is our job to make you feel at home, so be sure to contact us if you need any assistance or have any questions during your early days here.

Student Arrival Guide & Important Information on Living in Malaysia

A useful guide for new and even current students. This guide will help you with your life in Kuala Lumpur and UCTI, as it provides information about getting around, transportation, important phone numbers, etc.

Career support centre

Our career support centre manages a job placement service and connects our students profiles to a number of prospective employers. In addition, career talks, resume building workshops, career path consultation and career interview sessions are regularly conducted on campus to provide you with quality career support and guidance. In 2008, over 98% of our graduates were employed by graduation.


Money matters

When you go into higher education, you are making an investment in your future. However you need to make sure that you have the funding to support you throughout your university years. We will assist you with applying for financial aid, scholarships, loans, and how to supplement your income by working while studying. For international students, we will also help you to open your banking account with a local bank when you arrive here.


University Placement

We provide assistance to students who wish to transfer into the second year or final year degree programmes with collaborating universities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Briefings and counselling seminars are held regularly by representatives from respective universities.

See the Student Services Executives to obtain University application forms, guidance in selecting universities, and reference information such as prospectuses, video tapes and CD ROMs. We will help you to forward completed applications to respective universities.


Student Ambassadors

Students at UCTI have the opportunity to work alongside with the staff of the University when it comes to dealings in Student Services and Marketing. These students are known as our Student Ambassadors. Those who are selected gets hands-on experiences in working with people of diverse culture, inducing a corporate working environment in their mindset even before graduation.

Facilities in UCTI

Classrooms equipped for study. All classrooms and lecture halls are equipped with audio-visual, media and computing facilities to support learning in class.

Our library is a gateway to a comprehensive collection of books, journals, periodicals, student projects and other related publications to support learning and research for all students and staff. In addition, you can access online digital libraries from leading providers such as Proquest, Emerald, ACM and Current Law Journals. The library also houses areas for individual and group study, computer facilities and a photocopying facility. The library is open on Mondays to Fridays from 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

All students have access to state-of-the-art computer facilities that include the latest PCs and workstations with Internet connection, operating systems, software suites and commercial programming software in multiple IT labs built for project work, multimedia production, software and internet programming. Furthermore, all around the campus you will have access to wireless Internet so you can learn anywhere, anytime.

Popularly considered the best food outlet in the whole Technology Park Malaysia (TPM) complex, our cafeteria serves a wide range of halal Asian and western food. It is located on the ground floor adjoining the social space and is frequently patronised by employees from our neighbourhood companies in TPM.

UCTI Student Accommodation

UCTI provides fully-managed accommodation at a number of apartment buildings close to the campus, including Vista Komanwel, Fortune Park and Savanna Condominiums. You will have access to condominium facilities such as cafeteria, swimming pool, laundrette, convenience stores and a 24-hour security coverage. Students stay in the apartments where they occupy rooms on single or twin sharing basis and have access to kitchen facilities and common area. Each apartment has 3 to 5 bedrooms with a living room

Types of accommodation

There are different types of accommodation available from which you can choose the most suitable one. The differences are in facilities provided, location and prices.

Please note that the air conditioners can only be operated from 9 PM to 7 AM on weekdays and 9 PM to 9 AM on weekends.

  • Upon check-in to the accommodation students are advised to pay 2-month deposit and 1-month rental with respective cover charges. Note that rental rates may change from time to time.
  • UCTI covers utility bills up to RM250 (USD 78) per month.


Besides our managed accommodation, you can arrange your accommodation in privately owned houses and apartments. Unless you have your friends or relatives who have already prepared for your accommodation, you must come to KL at least 2 or 3 weeks before your course starts, because looking for a suitable place to stay could be tedious and time-consuming.
You have the options to share a room with someone, rent a single room to yourself, or rent a house or an apartment and share it with your friends.
