    International Students Either of the following:
    * Pass in Foundation in Engineering; or
    * Pass in A-Levels or its equivalent with three (3) Principals inclusive of Mathematics & Physics; or
    * Pass in a related 2 years Diploma from a recognised institution or its equivalent.
    * Fulfill MMU English Requirement.

    * TOEFL: 520 Paper-based; 190 Computer-based; 68 Internet-based; or
    * IELTS: 5.5; or
    * Cambridge O-Levels English: Min. Grade C
     
    Note: Students who do not meet the above requirements are to sit for an English Language Placement Test. Students who fail the placement test shall be required to attend the MMU Intensive English Language programme.

    The Multimedia University (MMU) Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Electronics majoring in Optical Engineering programme under the Faculty of Engineering allows students to be specialised in optical technology which include subjects like laser technology; optical waveguides; optoelectronics devices; optical communications systems; optical metrology and testing; fabrication and packaging technology and optical signal processing.
     
    This programme is designed in response to the increasing market demand and for optical manufacturing activity; which will continue to increase and may become an important industry supported by Malaysian expertise and infrastructure in the electronics packaging industry.
     
    These subjects, basic electronics; digital logic design; circuit and signal analysis; computer programming; power systems and machine; microprocessor systems and interfacing; electromagnetic theory; control theory; multimedia technology; computer networking and data communications are taken after the students complete other basic subjects in electronics engineering. Other subjects include mathematics; economics; accounting and Malaysian law.
     
    The Multimedia University (MMU) Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Electronics majoring in Optical Engineering programme is designed to provide students with opportunities to undergo practical training in the industry and to obtain research experience through graduation projects.
     
    Programme Objectives:
    * To develop highly competent engineers who are acquainted with the latest developments in the emerging photonics technology
    * To produce technical leaders who are innovative in implementing acquired knowledge in the photonics industry
     
    All engineering degrees awarded by the MMU Faculty of Engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Council of Malaysia and the Board of Engineers; Malaysia. Furthermore; Malaysia is a signatory of the Washington Accord. Hence; MMU engineering graduates are recognised and able to work at the signatory countries such as Australia; Canada; Hong Kong; Ireland; Japan; New Zealand; Singapore; South Africa; South Korea; Taiwan; UK and USA.
